LY COMPANY WATER GROUP: OPENS NEW WATER BOTTLING PLANT IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Ly Company Water Group, a leading European company in carton water packaging, together with its subsidiary Ly Company Caribe, have inaugurated the first carton water packaging plant in the Dominican Republic.
PIONEERING ALTERNATIVE THAT WILL BENEFIT THE CARIBBEAN
This pioneering alternative will benefit the entire Caribbean region.
Not only in terms of sustainability, since this type of eco-friendly packaging means a reduction in the massive use of plastic as it is made up of 70% cardboard.
This contributes to a reduction of more than 50% of the carbon footprint thanks to the manufacturing processes involved.
It is also a commitment to socio-economic responsibility, which will bring capital investment to the country.
In addition to the promotion of industry and trade, exports, generation of foreign exchange, technology and innovation and generation of direct and indirect employment.
“In a first stage the company will generate about 50 jobs, but it is expected that in two years it will generate about 100 direct jobs,” said Luis Roberto Prieto, Executive Director of the company in the Dominican Republic.

This project involves an investment of 4,000,000 euros in the country.
This includes the purchase of land in San Antonio de Guerra, where the factory will be located.
In addition to the investment in machinery and auxiliary packaging equipment, which in the initial stage will allow a packaging capacity of 7,000 containers per hour.
In order to respond to market demand, but with the capacity to produce up to 1.5 million containers.
OUR TARGET
The objective of the new plant is to serve the national market.
As well as the Caribbean region, Latin America and the United States, bringing to these new markets a novel alternative.
In addition to being environmentally sustainable when consuming a mass consumption product such as water.

During the opening ceremony, Francisco Rodríguez, CEO of Ly Company Water Group, highlighted that the main characteristic of the product is its packaging.
Its raw material is cardboard from responsibly and sustainably managed forests, with international certificates according to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards.
At the same time offering water with the highest level of quality and purity; recently recommended by experts for infant, neonatal and geriatric consumption due to its purity and low mineralisation.
With the start-up of the factory, the Dominican market and the region will have a sustainable alternative.
This is a relief for the environment and, in particular, for the oceans.
For every 100,000 plastic containers, 2,000 kg of plastic (recycled or not) will be prevented from ending up in the latter.

In the context of the reality that we are experiencing, the Malaga businessman Francisco Rodríguez states that:
“It is a difficult time for all entrepreneurs to believe and invest in emerging projects given the economic and social instability we are experiencing, but the story of a successful company is not synonymous with comfort and royalties but of effort and risk, Ly Company is a palpable example.”
We have the vision to improve the world by being a reference company in water packaging with sustainable materials.
“We meet an increasingly growing demand in society and the market due to the concern and worry about the alarming massive use of plastic that we experience in our daily lives and its consequences”.
PROJECT WITH A FUTURE
The project that arises from this alliance looks to the future with the vision of minimising the environmental impact of single-use mass consumer packaging on the market.
It will also become a pioneering company in offering products of the highest quality and sustainability throughout the Caribbean.
Contributing to the growth and generation of value for the consumer and for society.
