World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June, with the aim of raising awareness among the world’s population about the importance of caring for our ecosystems and promoting respect for the environment.

World Environment Day 2021 will mark the start of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

Now more than ever, it is urgent to restore damaged ecosystems, as they support all forms of life on Earth.

The UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration thus aims to prevent, halt and reverse the degradation of ecosystems on all continents and oceans.

The success of this proposal will depend on the response of all of us.

ONLY WATER JOINS THE CHANGE

At Only Water, in line with our values, we are taking action to reverse this situation.

“The past year, strongly marked by the pandemic, has made us even more aware of our need for change, so despite the exceptional situation we have implemented sustainability improvements to minimise the damage to the climate impact,” says Francisco Rodriguez CEO of Ly Company Water Group.

The implementation of these improvements has meant an investment of 600,000 euros for the company.

OUR MEASUREMENTS

Our measures include:

PAPER REDUCTION:

One of our operational objectives is the reduction of paper consumption in our offices. In this way we are gradually moving towards the “paperless” concept.

PLASTIC REDUCTION:

We invest to reduce the plastic used for our shipping logistics.

In the last year we have made a commitment to achieve a significant reduction in the amount of plastic used in our shipments, thereby reducing our carbon footprint.

In this way we have achieved a 60% reduction in plastic in our shipments, which is expected to result in an annual saving of 3 tonnes.

GREEN ENERGY:

The energy consumed by Only Water in factory and offices is green energy.

In addition, we plan to install a system of photovoltaic panels that will allow us to reduce consumption by 25% in the first phase, reaching the desired 80% in future phases.

ECOPALLETS PROJECT:

We are developing a sustainable alternative to close the recycling cycle of our product.

ENERGY SAVINGS:

It takes less energy to commercially shape cardboard than to form other packaging.

By reducing our use of plastic, we minimise the machine running time, which translates into a reduction in energy consumption and in turn a reduction in our carbon footprint.

We also plan to introduce a further improvement to our auxiliary equipment in July.

In this way, we will use the surplus heat from the machinery to heat the water that will be used to clean the equipment.

We also bring the concept of reusing resources to our processes, achieving a sustainable synergy with the environment.

All this results in a product composed of up to 88% renewable raw materials, for a reduced environmental impact that contributes to a sustainable future.
